2nd Friday Art Walk

Every month from 6pm-9pm in Chapel Hill & Carrboro, this self-guided art tour recently celebrated 10 years! As the 2nd Friday Art Walk continues to grow and draw community involvement and national interest, it allows local artists to find community venues to display their talents and receive the recognition they deserve; while bringing people to our business districts to shop, eat, and be entertained!

Ackland Art Museum & Ackland Museum Store

The Ackland Art Museum's permanent collection consists of more than 16,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina's premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper, as well as significant collections of European masterworks, twentieth-century and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina pottery. The Ackland organizes more than a dozen special exhibitions a year. The Museum participates in the ArtWalk on special occasions; check the calendar to the right for details.

The Ackland Museum Store carries an inventory of products related to the Ackland’s permanent collection and changing exhibitions, including home wares such as pottery, glass, and metalwork; jewelry, textiles, and accessories; children’s toys and books;  stationery; and art books.  A dedicated gallery space features rotating exhibitions of original artworks in a variety of media by local and regional artists and artisans.


The Art Therapy Institute

The Art Therapy Institute (ATI) brings art to the places people are every day. ATI improves access to mental health services for diverse populations and promotes education and awareness about art therapy.  Their initiatives include Master's-level clinical work in community settings, educational workshops, presenting at professional conferences, community art shows,  community collaboration and partnerships with nonprofit and governmental agencies, universities, and public schools.

Caffe Driade

Carrboro Century Center

The Carrboro Century Center opened in March 2001 and is the home to the Recreation and Parks Department and the Carrboro Police Department.  It offers numerous meeting rooms and displays an ever-evolving collection of work by community members.


Chapel Hill Focal Point Gallery

We weigh each category right in front of you and price it according to the day’s market (or London Fix). You can then decide if you want to sell or not – there is no obligation, and our feelings will not be hurt should you decide to price check; in fact, we encourage it. The entire process generally takes about 10 minutes.

NC Crafts Gallery

The North Carolina Crafts Gallery is an independently owned retail gallery that features a wide selection of pottery and gifts handcrafted exclusively by North Carolina artists and craftsmen.You’ll find contemporary and traditional pottery, blown glass, wood turnings, jewelry, metalwork, toys, folk art, garden art, kaleidoscopes, baskets, fiber art and more.The Crafts Gallery typically hosts two shows per month.
