Fat Tuesday at The Crunkleton

  • 320 W Franklin St Chapel Hill, NC 27516 (map)

Since the 1800's, New Orleans has inspired the craft of cocktail, and The Big Easy is the birthplace of some of our favorite drinks. With Mardi Gras taking place tomorrow, The Crunkleton plans to celebrate the classic cocktail culture that has made New Orleans what it is today by featuring three of our favorite New Orleans cocktails: the Sazerac, the Vieux Carre, and the Ramos Gin Fizz.

The Sazerac is a complex cocktail made with rye whiskey, bitters, Pastis, lemon oil, and sugar that many consider to symbolize the tradition and history of New Orleans. The Vieux Carre is a potent but smooth cocktail combining rye whiskey, brandy, sweet vermouth, Benedictine, and bitters created at the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter during the 1930's. The Ramos Gin Fizz is a luxurious cocktail that mixes citrus, egg white, cream, and orange flower water, capturing the essence of The Crescent City and its legendary festivals.

Drinking in New Orleans isn't like drinking anywhere else, but in the spirit of Fat Tuesday, come taste the grandeur of New Orleans tomorrow at The Crunkleton from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
