Coker Arboretum Tour at UNC

  • UNC Visitors Center 250 E Franklin St Chapel Hill, NC 27516

Friday, April 25, Springtime in Coker Arboretum, with natural science educator, Grant Parkin of the N.C. Botanical Garden.  The arboretum has occupied a treasured corner of Chapel Hill since William Coker, Carolina’s first professor of botany – and chair of buildings and grounds - lovingly laid out his plan for an outdoor classroom of native North Carolina plants and trees in 1903.  Today, carefully tended by the staff of the North Carolina Botanical Garden, more than 500 species of trees, plants and flowers – many from East Asia - thrive for all of us to enjoy.  Experience the tranquil, serene, natural magic of the arboretum and a glorious Carolina spring in our “Southern Part of Heaven.” Free and open to all.  www.unc.edu/visitors
