Town and Gown on East Franklin Street Walking Tour
Starts from the Horace Williams House
Between Chapel Hill and Carrboro, African Americans created a large community during Reconstruction. The community was home to many successful educators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. During the Civil Rights Movement, this community played an important role in the desegregation of Chapel Hill.
Tour begins at the Horace Williams House (610 E. Rosemary)
Tour is primarily on sidewalks.
Tour is $5 per person (tax included), no reservation necessary.
Free parking is available.
