Moonlight Madness: A Family Halloween Event

Partnering with the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is hosting Moonlight Madness, an evening of Halloween activities for kids of all ages on Saturday, October 27 from 4-8 p.m. There will be games, shows in the GSK Fulldome Theater, Science LIVE! performances, a costume fashion show, haunted house, candy, food trucks, and photo booth fun.

The Town of Chapel Hill and Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership host the FREE Movies Under the Stars summer series held outdoors on top of the Wallace Parking Deck at 150 E. Rosemary St. 

Movie-goers of all ages will enjoy free popcorn and fun activities. Movies start at approximately 8:30 PM (or when it's dark enough!)

Get dinner from a downtown restaurant before you head up to the Wallace Plaza to watch the movies!

Lego-Palooza at the Morehead Planetarium

LEGO-palooza celebrates its 12th year!

Since 2005, the North Carolina LEGO Users Group (NC-LUG) has created amazing displays of unique LEGO scenes, from settlements in outer space to hometowns throughout America (including forts, amusement parks, city landmarks and more), for Morehead visitors to enjoy during LEGO-palooza.

Thanks to the North Carolina LEGO Users Group for their leadership and exceptional artistry in crafting these extraordinary LEGO models!

Additional Information

  • Admission to the LEGO-palooza exhibit area is free. (There may be brief waits for admission, to ensure that we do not have more people in the exhibit area than our building codes permit.) 
  • LEGO-palooza is recommended for ages 6 and older.
  • NC-LUG will provide hands-on activities.

What do you get when you mix imagination, creative spirit, and repurposed items together? The Traveling Teacher Show! Their mission is to enrich the lives of children by teaching them their role in saving the planet! Camp options include Trash Bash or Happy Campers, both geared to ages  4-9. Kidzu Connected Play Workshop

Kidzu is excited to announce that Meytal Barak of Connected Play will be offering two great classes at Kidzu! Connected Play is an early development program combining baby play activities with parenting discussions. During Connected Play classes parents learn about the natural development of babies through play and ways to use safe and simple toys to facilitate both motor and cognitive development. The baby play activities will be followed by guided, friendly discussions about infant development and parenting. This class is free of charge, but space is limited and attendance will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Mix it Up in the Makery with 123 Puppetry

Come explore the effects of light and dark with shadow puppetry! We will learn all about puppetry, create our own puppets, and put on a performance with Sol Ramirez, the 11 year old creator of 123 Puppetry! 123 Puppetry is a group of young puppeteers who create giant puppets, masks, cardboard creations, and live music. All ages welcome, free with admission.
