Join the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership in kicking off the holiday season by celebrating the lighting of the 22' tall Community Tree in the Memorial Garden of University Baptist Church. Enjoy the sounds of the church choir and handbell choir! Don't forget your camera - children can meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and have their pictures taken for free! The community tree will stay up through the holiday season. University Baptist Church is located at 100 S. Columbia; at the corner of Columbia Street and Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill. Parking is FREE downtown on Sundays! FREE Saturday Parking This Holiday Season! 
Parking is always FREE on Sundays in Downtown Chapel Hill, but this holiday season parking will be FREE on Saturdays as well! The Town of Chapel Hill will be offering downtown patrons and visitors FREE parking on Saturdays in December at all municipal lots, the Wallace parking deck, and at on-street meters. At 5:00 PM on Saturdays, the Wallace Deck and Rosemary/Columbia Lot will begin charging at their normal rate.

The Show Will Go On at The Varsity!Wizard of Oz 
The Varsity on Franklin will open this holiday weekend  on Friday, November 27th! The theater will show The Wizard of Oz, The Invention of Lying, and The Informant.

Community Day at the Ackland Art Museum!

The Ackland Art Museum invites families to spend the day after Thanksgiving at the Museum! Community Day is a day-long exploration of art and ideas from around the world. Muralist Michael Brown will lead an art-making workshop, UNC-Chapel Hill art students will help screen-print your own t-shirts, gallery teachers and docents will lead guided tours, and several other programs and events offer something for the whole family. There is something for everyone to enjoy doing at Community Day! Admission is free.

The community is invited to attend a benefit wine-tasting, featuring North Carolina's finest locally grown wines and hand-crafted desserts, live jazz with Chancellor Holden Thorp & Equinox, and an opportunity to support local initiatives to combat homelessness. Featured wineries include Duplin Winery, Biltmore Wines, Benjamin Vineyards, and Grove Winery. Tickets are $10.00 for students and $15.00 for faculty and community members. Chapel Hill - Carrboro Holiday Parade Holiday Parade
The Chapel Hill -Carrboro Holiday Parade, presented by The Chapel Hill Jaycees, will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. The parade, featuring over 60 entries, starts at Henderson Street and winds the entire length of Franklin Street to Carrboro Town Hall. West End Valet Parking is FREE! West End Logo
Spend the evening on the West End and take advantage of FREE Valet Parking six nights a week! Monday through Saturday - 5:00pm to 11:00pm. Courtesy Valet Parking is provided to patrons of participating businesses with a validated parking receipt. Downtown visitors enjoying other establishments can also use the valet service for a $5.00 charge. Drop cars off at the Valet Parking stand located in front of the UNC Information Technology building (440 West Franklin Street), near the West End Wine Bar.
