Explore the heavens as they appear each night above North Carolina! Viewers learn how to identify the planets and stars currently making up the night sky and how to find the cardinal directions using celestial signposts. Viewers are also taken on a guided tour of the constellations and the ancient myths that string together their component stars.
Each presentation is manually controlled by one of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's trained star projector pilots, the flow of the presentation can be determined by questions fielded from the audience. For more information visit www.moreheadplanetarium.org

We're All Family Here: Preserving Community Heritage in the Rogers Road Neighborhood of Chapel Hill
This exhibit traces the development of the Rogers-Eubanks area from the 1700s to today. In addition to maps and photographs from the North Carolina Collection, the exhibit uses sources from the book "Rogers Road" and photographs donated by neighborhood residents to illustrate the history of this predominantly African-American community from emancipation to the present day. This exhibit of mixed media nature illustrations is brought to the museum by the GNSI Carolinas, a chapter of the national Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Members of the guild include scientific illustrators, botanical and wildlife illustrators, book illustrators, students, and authors.Focusing on the wonders found throughout the natural world that surrounds us, 20 artists will exhibit their varied works, from botanicals to wildlife, in the Museum's West gallery. Artist Kip Fulbeck traveled the country photographing Hapa of all ages and walks of life. Once a derogatory label derived from the Hawaiian word for "half," the word Hapa has been embraced as a term of pride for many whose mixed-race heritage includes Asian or Pacific Rim ancestry.
