"If home is where the Heart is, I lost my Heart..." begins a poem in the latest edition of Talking Sidewalks, a literary magazine composed entirely of short stories, poems and photographs from authors and artists who are experiencing homelessness in the Chapel Hill area. Please join us for a release party and author reading for the newest edition of Talking Sidewalks at Flyleaf Books located at 752 Martin Luther King, Jr. BLVD.  The event is free and open to all. Please contact Meg McGurk at 967-9440 or for more information. Candlelight Vigil at the Old Well

Martin Luther King Jr's life continues to inspire people today around the globe to fight for social justice. The Theta Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. invites the community to join them at the Old Well on McCorkle Place for a vigil that will act as a time for reflection on King's inspirational messages prior to the MLK Memorial Lecture, which will immediately follow. Mediterranean Deli Hosts Fundraiser for Haiti

Baroque Concert at Horace Williams House

Kids Eat Free at Carolina Brewery in January!  


To celebrate their 15th Anniversary in Chapel Hill, the Carolina Brewery will be doing a special promotion each month. In January, it's Kids Eat Free each weeknight! So, bring the family Monday through Friday and kids under 12 will eat for free off the kids menu. This offer runs through the month of January.

Art from the Heart to Benefit Museums!
More than 100 original pieces of artwork are on display through February 4, 2010 at the CHAPEL HILL MUSEUM and Kidzu Children's Museum. Local celebrated personalities, heroes and established artists have painted canvases to be auctioned in support of the exceptional educational experiences at the CHAPEL HILL MUSEUM and Kidzu Children's Museum. Participants include everyone from UNC coaches to Triangle chefs, from town officials to musicians, from notable artists to authors. A multimedia artistic collaboration, "Ice Counterpoint" views the Earth's polar regions through the artistic collaboration of music, art, environmental soundscapes and photography. The photography, recordings, and video of Antarctica and the High Arctic, taken in 2006 and 2009 by Brooks de Wetter-Smith (photo at right), are presented along with the polar art of Nerys Levy.
