The Dylan vs. Petty for Haiti show features an evening of local bands covering two of rock and roll's greatest songwriters - Bob Dylan and Tom Petty! All proceeds from the show will go to Partners in Health ( The show line up features: Birds & Arrows, Big Fat Gap, Gambling the Muse, Mary Johnson Rockers, Mandolin Orange, Pneurotics, Semi-Formal, and It is rain in my face. $5 minimum donation at the door. Kildare's Irish Pub Opens!
Kildares Irish PubKildares, an authentic Irish pub, opened its doors last week to huge crowds on Franklin St. Inside, all of the furniture, bars, and items displayed (known in Ireland as Bric-a-brac), are all brought in from Ireland and assembled here. Kildare's offers, food, spirits, live music, and dancing with events like karaoke and open mic night happening all week long. The pub is now open daily and starting this Monday, will begin opening at 11am for lunch. Kildare's is located at 206 West Franklin Street at the former Buffalo Wild Wings. NCComedy Arts Festival Starts This Weekend!
NC Comedy Arts Festival - logoThe NC Comedy Arts Festival (NCCAF) is the largest comedy festival in the Southern U.S. featuring improv and standup comedy. The Taylor Family in Chapel Hill

The very musical Taylor family lived in Chapel Hill in the 1950s and 1960s while Dr. Isaac Taylor was on the faculty, and eventually the dean of the UNC Medical School. Isaac and Trudy Taylor's children have all been musicians (Alex, James, Kate, Livingston and Hugh) as have many of their grandchildren. This program will feature a film by Liz Witham, award-winning documentary filmmaker and daughter of Kate Taylor, about her mother and other Taylors in Chapel Hill and the Taylors' long-time home, Martha's Vineyard, Mass. Kate Taylor also will perform, and she and Liz will answer questions. The event begins with a reception at 5 p.m. followed by the program at 5:30 p.m. It is free and open to all. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play born of wartime in another era speaks as clearly now as it did then. Miller's masterpiece explores the moral question of what we are responsible for, and who we are responsible to, in a time of war. Playmakers is proud to be among the first theatres given the rights to present this masterwork since Miller's death four years ago.   Visit for ticket information.
