Homeless Near and Far Logo

Homeless Near and Far Concert on Wallace Plaza
On Friday, April 23 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM the community is invited to the Homeless Near and Far concert - showcasing musical talents of local bands and the homeless community, and raising awareness about homelessness in Orange County! Featuring keynote speakers, great music, great food and a grand time high above Rosemary Street! Admission is free; donations taken at the event will go directly to the Community Empowerment Fund Also, bring two cans of food to get a raffle ticket and a chance to win an awesome prize pack!
2nd Annual Intro Summit at the CaveIntro Summit
The Cave is hosting this annual event featuring over seventeen bands starting on Friday, April 23 and ending on Sunday April, 25 all night long! Tickets are $10.00 per night on Friday and Saturday, and $8.00 on Sunday. The best deal is a three-day pass for $21 for the whole weekend! Civil War Living History Day & Lantern Tour
Enjoy learning about life during the Civil War on the lawn of the Antebellum Horace Williams House on Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Learn about women's fashion of the 1860s, watch as soldiers cook rations and demonstrate infantry tactics, enjoy a concert of wartime songs, and much more. Then starting at 6:00 PM join tour guides for "O! Cruel War", a guided tour of Chapel Hill in 1865. Meet residents, soldiers, and Freedmen and hear their story. Tickets $15 and reservations needed. Kay Kyser Honored by Local Author
Beasly Book - Kay KyserThe Chapel Hill Museum will host an afternoon of lighthearted nostalgia of forgotten musical and Hollywood history with author Steven Beasley on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00 PM. Beasley will explore Kyser's life through music, movies, radio and the contributions he made to his home state of North Carolina. A wonderful documentary short produced and written by Beasley will also be shown, as well as listening to the impeccable and familiar music of Kay Kyser and his Orchestra. The Chapel Hill Museum is located at 523 East Franklin Street. Yoga and Poetry Events at Ackland Art Museum 
Namasté! Take a break from your day and explore the world of yoga in the museum galleries on Tuesday, April 27 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM! Yoga mats and museum cushions are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to stretch. Since the Galleries can be cool, long sleeves are recommended. Sessions led by Joanne Marshall. Beginners are welcome. On Thursday, April 29, at 6:00 PM, the museum hosts award-winning poet DéLana R. A. Dameron, author of How God Ends Us (winner of the 2008 South Carolina Poetry Book Prize), for a public reading of works composed in response to the current Ackland exhibition Jacob Lawrence and The Legend of John Brown. On Saturday, May 1, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Dameron will host a free poetry writing workshop investigating methods of writing in response to art. Both events are free to the public.
