The FRANK Arts Collective will be opening this Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM.  The gallery features work from over 70 local artists and offers paintings, ceramics and sculpture as well as a wide selection of fine art, craft, wearables, and gifts.  FRANK will be open Tuesday - Saturday 11:00 AM to 6:00PM, Thursdays until 8:00 PM for a Salon night with the artist and Sunday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. FRANK is located at 109 East Franklin Street. A Time for Singing: Best of Broadway PerformanceBroadway Sign

Richard Wall, Chapel Hill-based musical director and singing coach, will present two performances featuring the Triangle's finest singers at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Reception Hall at 300 East Rosemary Street. Musical selections will span the best of Broadway including songs from Oklahoma, South Pacific, Carousel, Oliver, Follies, My Fair Lady, plus a 80th birthday tribute to Stephen Sondheim. Homeless Near and Far Concert on Wallace Plaza
On Friday, April 23 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM the community is invited to Homeless Near and Far concert - showcasing musical talents of local bands and the homeless community, and raising awareness about homelessness in OR CO! Featuring keynote speakers, great music, great food and a grand time high above Rosemary Street! Admission is free; donations taken at the event will go directly to the Community Empowerment Fund (www.communityempowermentfund.org). Second Friday Art Walk at Studio Supply
Come to Studio Supply on Friday, April 9 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PMfor the opening reception of artist Nine Love. While you're there, make and trade artist trading cards and enjoy refreshments and cupcakes from Bliss Boutique Bakery. As always, this event is free and open to the public. Invite your friends! Studio Supply's featured artist this month is Nine Love from Burma. Nine moved to the U.S. two years ago to escape persecution from the military junta and has spent his short time here taking ESL classes and painting. GO HEELS! UNC Blue-White Football Game
The UNC Blue-White Spring Football Game will be on Saturday, April 10 at 3:00 PM, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN. The game is FREE and open to all. Head coach Butch Davis will divide the teams into two squads and the Tar Heels will play four 12-minute quarters. Tar Heel Town moves to the Bell Tower and inside Kenan Stadium beginning at 12:00 noon. There will be a Pregame autograph session with the players and the head coach, live music, Rameses, face painting, Bell Tower climb, poster giveaways, fantastic prizes and more. Thursday Talks at Ackland Art Museum
Jacob Lawrence PaintingAckland's new Thursday Talks program bring artists, scholars, and art lovers together during the extended Thursday evening hours at the museum. Thursday, April 15 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PMfeatures a tour of the exhibition Jacob Lawrence and The Legend of John Brown with Zoe Trodd and Blake Gilpin, postdoctoral fellows at UNC-Chapel Hill's Center for the Study of the American South who have written about both John Brown and Jacob Lawrence. Their tour will examine the artistic, historical, and literary contexts in which Lawrence made his narrative series, and will include brief presentations and opportunities to ask questions and look closely at the art together.
