All Are Invited to Veterans Day Ceremony

About 80 ROTC cadets and midshipmen will assemble in dress uniforms on Friday, November 11 at 11AM  for the annual Veterans Day ceremony on UNC's campus. Veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized as the conflict in which they served is named. The free public ceremony will be outdoors at the Carolina Alumni Memorial in Memory of Those Lost in Military Service, located between Phillips and Memorial halls (120 E. Cameron Ave.)  A color guard representing all three UNC ROTC programs - Army, Air Force and Naval/Marine - will assemble at 10:40 a.m. before presenting the colors.  Visit

GO HEELS: The Carrier Classic Franklin Hotel

The top-ranked UNC Men's basketball team will open its 2011-12 season against Michigan State on Friday, November 11 at 7PM in the Quicken Loans Carrier Classic in San Diego, Calif.  The contest will be played on the USS Carl Vinson and will be the first college basketball game played on an aircraft carrier.  For some interesting stats and details on the Carrier Classic visit

Celebrate Local Beer at Homebrew for Hunger Franklin Hotel

Taste and learn about beer from over 30 local homebrewers and craft breweries including Carolina Brewery on Saturday, November 12 from 12PM to 5PM. In addition to the tastings, there will be educational events and a panel discussion and prize raffles. Better yet, all money raised will go to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, which has been feeding children and adults at risk of hunger for thirty years. The event will be held at the NEWLY open West End Public at 462 West Franklin Street. Second Annual Carrboro Anarchist Bookfair Franklin Hotel
