Volunteers Needed for Art Installation 

Are you handy with a paint brush?  Do you have an inner artist waiting to escape? Do you love Franklin Street?  If you answered yes to any of the above you're probably who we're looking for!  With the holidays around the corner we've partnered with Adrian Schlesinger, a Senior UNC art student to create a seasonal window art display for the old University Chrysler Building at 419 West Franklin St.  We have two work days planned next week: Wednesday, November 9 & Saturday, November 12. Sign up for any amount of time on our online signup link here: Please be sure to include your email in the comment line of the signup sheet. Collecting (Our Thoughts): A Panel Discussion Ackland Sign

Discussions of collecting often concentrate on the achievements of individual collectors. This forum on Sunday, November 6 at 3PM, presented in conjunction with the Ackland's exhibition Carolina Collects: 150 Years of Modern and Contemporary Art from Alumni Collections, takes a different approach, shifting the focus onto unexpected and underexplored aspects of collecting. Are there styles of collecting that match art styles? What does it mean to an artist to be collected? Are there new models of collecting involving institutional or personal collaboration?
