 Art Now / Cinema Now  

On Saturday, April 16 at 7PM join the Ackland Art Museum and UNC's Interdisciplinary Program in Cinema for the third of four Art Now/Cinema Now movie showings at the Varsity Theatre; Sugarbaby (Percy Adlon, 1985). The series theme; In the Shadow of Catastrophe: German Cinema 1977-1992, examines German filmmakers' responses to the incomprehensibility of violence, terror, and self-destruction that was associated with their national identity. Playmaking at PlayMakers 

On Friday, April 15 from 3:30PM to 5:00PM Kidzu Children's Museum and PlayMakers Repertory Theatre partner to offer a dramatic art workshop for young children. Children will have the opportunity to warm-up and perform on stage with one of  PlayMakers company members. Company members will lead the workshop in a series of fun improvisational games. $15 per child (ages 4-8 yrs). Registration is required. Nightlight 4 Elements Fest Continues 

Nightlight continues their celebration of the four elements this weekend! Bring your friends and a favorite homemade dish to the Local Food & Home Brew Potluck on Friday, April 15 from 6PM to 9PM. Orange County Literacy Fair Boys Reading

Elementary & Middle School students are invited to attend this FREE fair on Saturday April 16 from 10AM to 2PM at Street Scene Teen Center; 179 E Franklin Street. The fair is hosted by The Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education (SCALE) as part of Global Youth Service Day. Parents and guardians will learn about community resources for summer literacy programs for their children. Activities include a storytelling performance, buddy reading, face painting, bookmark making, and more.
