On Saturday, April 9th, 3500 runners will descend upon Downtown Chapel Hill and UNC's campus for the 5th Annual celebration of spring, the Wachovia Tar Heel 10 Miler and Fleet Feet Sports 4+ Mile Run. Race beneficiaries are UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the YMCA's We Build People Campaign. For more information on the event visit www.tarheel10miler.com

Carolina Science Café at Back Bar  

"Ocytocin and the Evolution of Love, Intelligence, and Mental Health" is the topic of the next installment of the Carolina Science Cafe at Top of the Hill on Thursday, April 7 from 7PM to 8PM, presented by Dr. Cort Pedersen. Come discover what researchers are learning about this amazing neurochemical. Pedersen is a professor from UNC's psychiatry department, is also on the faculty of the UNC Neuroscience Center and the Center for Developmental Science. DE-NATURED: German Art from Joseph Beuys to Martin Kippenberger

Nightlight 4 Elements Fest 

Starting Friday, April 8 to Saturday, April 16 Nightlight is celebrating the four elements with an amazing line up of daytime and evening workshops, events, panel discussions, and film screenings on sustainable and ecologically oriented themes! ABC Rummage Sale at The Chapel Of the Cross

UNC Spring Football Game - Go Heels!UNC Football Fans

UNC's annual Spring Football Game is Saturday, April 9 at Kenan Stadium. Admission to the game is free. Tar Heel Town will open at 12PM with events scheduled for the Bell Tower quad and Kenan Stadium. A Kids Zone will be set up in the Bell Tower area with bounce houses, inflatables and other fan-friendly activities. Fans will have an opportunity to obtain autographs from the Carolina players and head coach Butch Davis beginning 1PM on the field. The Crunkleton Lecture Series: Gin & Jazz The Crunkleton

The Crunkleton welcomes Charlotte Voisey, world renowned mixologist and Hendrick's Gin ambassador, on Wednesday, April 13 from 7PM to 10PM as she discusses the history and popularization of gin and gets behind the bar with Gary and the boys to mix up some fine libations. The evening will feature live jazz from the Stephen Anderson Trio.  Stephen is a recording artist, jazz pianist, accomplished composer and UNC faculty member.  This exploration into gin and jazz will not only highlight the cultural significance of the two, but will also show their harmonious histories. Big Fish on the Big Screen 

On Tuesday, April 12 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM join The Center for the Study of the South as they present the movie, Big Fish at the Varsity Theatre, followed by a post-screening talk with author Daniel Wallace and Professor Bill Ferris, Senior Associate Director of the Center for the Study of the American South. Big Fish is based upon the novel by author, and Chapel Hill resident, Daniel Wallace. It is a story about a son trying to learn more about his dying father by reliving stories and myths his father told him about himself. Science Alive at Kidzu Children's Museum Kidzu - Store front

Join Kidzu on Wednesday, April 13 from 3PM to 4PM for this monthly series of drop-in programs based on hands-on science education. This month topic is Junk Food Science. Kids will learn about good food versus junk food, eating healthy, and how your body uses the nutrients it gets. There will be cool demonstrations and hand-on activities throughout the event.
