Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership 

Locally Grown kicks off with a concert on Thursday, June 23 at 6:00 PM with Mandolin Orange and Big Fat Gap.  On Thursday, July 28 Holy Ghost Tent Revival performs with The Big Picture; and Future Islands with Motor Skills perform on Thursday, August 25. Concert nights feature a beer garden along with a selection of food from some of Franklin Street's favorite restaurants.

Movie nights provide entertainment for the whole family with free popcorn, crafts & games, trivia games, costume contests, and more! 

The FREE movies start approx. at 8PM, so bring a chair or blanket, grab food to-go from a downtown restaurant, and enjoy a Dinner And A Movie under the stars!  Visit Festivals Logo      

Sacred Arts Tour  Monks

The Tibetan Monks of the Drepung Gomang Monastery are creating a sacred sand mandala, at 523 E. Franklin Street, this week and will hold a deconstruction ceremony on Monday, May 30. Free and open to all. Visit

Author Reading at Internationalist Books 

On Monday, May 30 at 7PM, Internationalist Books hosts Stephen Sheehi, author of "Islamophobia: The Ideological Campaign Against the Muslims". The book examines the rise of anti-Muslim and anti-Arab sentiments in the West following the end of the Cold War through GW's "War on Terror" to the Age of Obama. Free and open to all. Visit  

University UMC to Host Blood Drive 

According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day. On Tuesday, May 31, University United Methodist Church (150 E. Franklin Street) will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross. Volunteer to give blood from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. To avoid lines, sign up for an appointment at
