In 2010, twenty four citizens participated in this endeavor. While some will return to participate again this year, more than 15 vacancies exist for others to participate in 2011. Wes Tilghman Supervisor for Festivals and Community Celebrations says, "The only way the town can manage the immense task of producing a quality arts festival, is to follow the success other communities enjoy, by organizing volunteers who participate in the planning process."
Members of the Event Planning committee commit roughly 10 to 15 hours a month, working closely with staff liaisons to develop, plan and evaluate Town sponsored events. Roles include Entertainment, Artist, Publicity, Logistics, Volunteer Recruiting, and more. The committee is scheduled to meet monthly and will gather more frequently as the Arts Festival draws near. Planning meetings are scheduled to begin in May 2011.

The Town of Chapel Hill is recruiting volunteers to serve on a special event planning committee for the Festifall Arts Festival in October. Special events are important to the fabric of our community; they bring vitality and excitement to our town that enhances the quality of life for all of our citizens and visitors, as well as promote a positive economic impact.
