New FREE Night Parking Lot Opens Downtown RBC Night Parking Picture

The lower RBC Centura parking lot, located at 164 N. Rosemary Street, is now open for FREE night time parking between 6PM and 6AM. Also affectionately nicknamed the Sea Turtle parking lot because of Michael Brown's mural painted at the back of the lot. Through a partnership between RBC Centura, the Town of Chapel Hill, and the Downtown Partnership -- the bank is helping to make parking downtown even easier now by opening the lot at night to all. Coming soon are two more parking lots that will be open from 6PM to 6AM through this generous public/private partnership. Look for the special FREE NIGHT PARKING signs. Piedmont Blues Benefit Concert Boo Hanks
Boo Hanks and Lightnin' Wells will perform on Friday, September 30 at 4:30PM as part of the Sustaining Roots Music Community Project. This free benefit concert will be held on the porch of the historic Love House, 410 East Franklin Street. Refreshments will be provided, but guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and donations to assist SOOTS' cause to give a hand up to elderly musicians. Visit  Like us on Facebook

Art Adventures: Abstract Ackland! Ackland Family Day

Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce a signing with CreatureBox on Saturday, October 1 from 2PM to 4PM. They'll have copies of Spider Island: I Love New York, which features an 8-page Spider-Kitty story with art by CreatureBox. Also available will be copies of the Ratchet and Clank paperback collection/.   CreatureBox is for anyone who enjoys bizarre monster design, comics of spacemen, and illustrations of everything in between.

15th Annual Walk for Education on Franklin Street Walk for Education 2011
On Saturday, October 1 at 2PM hundreds of local school kids and families will make the walk from McCorkle Place down Franklin Street, turn on to Merritt Mill Road and end at Lincoln Center for a Carnival full of games and food! There is no fee to take part in the Walk or to attend the Carnival at Lincoln Center. The Carnival, however, does function as a fundraiser for the more than 50 school groups operating booths. The school groups charge for the foods, games and activities offered at their booths. Visit
