FREE Intro to Meditation Classes
A meditation teacher from the Kosala Center in Carrboro will be visiting the Franklin Street Yoga Center on Sunday, January 29 at 12PM to instruct people on how to engage in simple guided meditation to reduce stress, tension, and distractions. This is the first in a series of four classes. After the instructions, there will be time for questions. Class is free; donations welcomed. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary. Join the staff of Southern Village Pediatric Dentistry for an interactive story-time geared toward "Growing Healthy Smiles!" on Thursday, February 2 at 10:30AM. The staff will read dental related stories, answer questions from parents, and use a puppet to demonstrate proper brushing techniques. On Wednesday, February 1 at 12PM bring a bag lunch and enjoy an hour with John Bowles, Associate Professor in the Art Department at UNC-Chapel Hill, as he examines feminist art in "The Spectacular of Vernacular". Bowles' recent book, "Adrian Piper: Race, Gender, and Embodiment", explores feminist conceptual and performance art of the 1960s-1980s.
