Monday Evening Out

Monday's are what they are.  Sometimes I feel like I'm at the end of a long week just a 2:30 in the afternoon and since I think 5-hour-energy is out to kill us I need other ways to make Monday's more interesting.

One of my favorite Monday treats is Kildare's at 5:00pm for 35 cent wings.  Now a word about wings in our fair town.  There are many great places to get wings in Downtown Chapel Hill; my top three favorites in no particular order being The Standard, Linda's, and Kildare's.  Kildare's offers many interesting flavors from buffalo, Jameson BBQ, firehouse dry rub (reminiscent of some great hot chicken places in Nashville, TN), and many others.

I often enjoy a tray of Kildare's wings and a $2 Yuengling draft at the end of the day on Mondays with a companion to catch up and discuss our weeks.  Yesterday my fiance joined me to chat about our days and lay out our evening.

After finishing our treats we walked down West Franklin Street and stopped in to CD Alley to browse the vinyl.  My Monday was quickly made after flipping through the recent arrival used records to find an orginal release of Townes Van Zandt's second album Our Mother the Mountain for $5!  I love CD Alley and have found countless wonderful records in their stacks, but this is one of my finest finds.  For the Townes fans out there, you know how perfect his music is and how finding an orginial copy of any of his records would make anyone's Monday.

Come downtown soon and have your own wonderful evening out!  It's always a good time.  If you're driving to Franklin Street be sure to check out www.franklinstreetparking.com to help you find the perfect place to put your car.
