Music on the Porch -TODAY!

UNC's Center for the Study of the American brings Eric Hirsh, Kim Arrington, and Peter Lamb to perform and discuss the creative process and how the rich culture of the South influences their music. Free and open to all. 
NEW Exhibit Open at Ackland
While Thornton Dial is most recognized for his large scale, multimedia assemblages, his most prolific body of work is drawings, which he began producing in the early 1990s. Organized by the Ackland Art Museum, Thornton Dial: Thoughts on Paper will feature 50 of Dial's earliest drawings from 1990-1991, a pivotal moment in his artistic career. Public lecture on Thursday, March 29 at 5:30PM at Hanes Art Center Auditorium. Free and open to the public. A reception at the Ackland Art Museum -with music by the Sinful Savage Tigers-follows.

On Saturday, March 31 at 7PM Back Alley Bikes invites you to ride your bike over and join them for a 5th Anniversary Party. Enjoy food, drinks and The Triathlon of Terror -- if you are brave enough! Snow White by Ballet Preljocaj
French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj has created a wickedly erotic contemporary ballet, re-inventing the alluring fairy tale of Snow White.Performances on Wednesday, April and Thursday, April 5 at 7:30PM at Memorial Hall. This lush, full-length story ballet features massive sets, 26 dancers and an all-star roster of French artists and designers, and costumes by the legendary fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Two Short Films at The Varsity
StreetSigns and Harland's Creek Productions present two short films "About Time" and "Easy Street" on Sunday, April 1 at 5PM; with a Q&A with the filmmakers to follow. Tickets are $5. "About Time" is a short film about love, loss and letting go directed by Joseph Megel and written and produced by Elisabeth Lewis Corley. "Easy Street," written, directed and edited by Russell Greene and produced by GreeneHause Pictures poses the question, "What would you do for your dream job?" and follows a young lawyer from the South who goes to New York for a job interview with the country's most eccentric and intimidating Federal

Beauty for the Earth at Aveda
During the months of March, April and May- Aveda Institute Chapel Hill has a goal to raise $25,000 to benefit the Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC), through a variety of student-focused activities. Specifically they are raising money for TLC's Clean Water Campaign which helps to protect the drinking water of six counties, located in the Triangle region.
