GIVE ME WINGS Exhibit
Moths and butterflies. Hummingbirds, crows, blue jays. cicadas and katydids. Airplanes, helicopters, gliders, parachutes, rockets. Bats and batman. owls, angels, bees. Dragons and dragonflies. pegasus and icarus. Humans have always reached to the skies - we love the creatures that fly, and try our hardest to follow suit. FRANK takes on these ideas and themes in their new exhibit GIVE ME WINGS. Exhibit runs from July 10 through September 9, 2012. Opening reception Friday, July 13 from 6PM to 9PM. Summery Vintage Style
At the Clothing Warehouse every piece is as original as you. Rows of colored vintage t-shirts line blue walls as racks of one-of-a-kind dresses, shirts, pants and skirts fill the stores. Art with Evan at Kidzu
On Tuesday, July 17 from 3:30PM to 4:30PM join certified art teacher Evan Hirasawa for this hands-on imaginative drawing and painting class. Evan helps children explore their world through positive and nurturing instruction. Young children with special needs are welcome. $6 per child, ages 2-7 years. Registration is required. 'Urinetown' at PlayMakers
A cast of 25 young student actors will perform the Tony Award-winning musical satire "Urinetown: The Musical" as the culmination of the PlayMakers Repertory Company Summer Youth Conservatory running July 19-22. In "Urinetown," 20 years of disastrous drought have led to draconian water restrictions. Drawing in the Galleries on the second Saturday of every month from 10AM to 12PM. Amanda Hughes (Director of External Affairs) leads participants in a creative exploration of a particular object in the Ackland's collection. Bring paper and dry media (crayon, pencils, etc.). All levels are welcome. Music in the Galleries on Sunday, July 15 at 2PM features The Durham Ukulele Orchestra- the group that makes big sounds with tiny instruments. The Durham Ukulele Orchestra plays a range of tunes, from jazz standards to art rock classics like "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads -- all on ukuleles!

Pools OPEN - Come On In!
The A. D. Clark Pool at the Hargraves Community Center, 216 N. Roberson St., is open for the 2012 summer season. The free outdoor swimming pool, operated by the Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department, is available for lap swimming and open swim time now through Labor Day. The 25 meter pool offers a zero-depth entry pool, locker rooms, showers and family changing area. There is a wading pool for pre-school aged children and toddlers (swim diapers required).
