The Cave 'Cooler' Benefit
The recent sudden and powerful rain storms this summer flooded The Cave and ruined it's cooler. The Cave has two shows this weekend to raise funds to replace the cooler and pay for the flood damage. Curiosity Lands on Mars
Join Morehead Planetarium on Sunday, August 5 from 1:30PM to 3:30PM to celebrate the landing of NASA's newest Mars Rover, Curiosity. Special presentations by NASA ambassadors will take place, followed by hands-on crafts for children in the west end of Morehead (by the science stage) with Kidzu Children's Museum. Free!

Krav Maga Classes 
Chapel Hill Training, 400 West Rosemary Street, Suite 1003, is partnering with Triangle Krav Maga to offer Level I classes on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7:30PM. Monsters, Heroes & Gods
Many of the constellations we see are named for characters in Greek mythology. At this Morehead Planetarium event hear tales about these characters and learn to recognize their constellations at August's "Star Families" program on Saturday, August 4. "Star Families" is for ages 7-12 accompanied by parents or caregivers. Fee: $5 per person/ $4 per Morehead member.

Director's Choice: Art since 1950 from the Ackland Art Museum Collection (July 13 - August 26) Selected by Emily Kass, Director of the Ackland Art Museum, this exhibition brings together highlights from the Ackland's growing permanent collection of art since 1950. The 30 paintings, sculptures, and photographs in Director's Choice may even offer visitors hints of summertime places, activities, and sensations; consider Julian Stanczak's Glare, Felrath Hines' Aquatic Adventures, Jules Olitski's Waves and Clouds, and Burk Uzzle's Red Hamburgers. Museum admission is always free! 

Hargraves Family Fun Day

City of Frogs: Summer Show
The 13th annual giant puppet pageant - City of Frogs - is the summer event for all ages in Forest Theatre. Brought to us by Paperhand Puppet Intervention. The show includes masks, stilt walkers, shadow puppets, and live music. Running August 10 through September 9, every weekend with evening and matinee shows. $12, $8 kids - suggested donation. Pools OPEN - Come On In!
The A. D. Clark Pool at the Hargraves Community Center, 216 N. Roberson St., is open for the 2012 summer season. The free outdoor swimming pool, operated by the Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department, is available for lap swimming and open swim time now through Labor Day. The 25 meter pool offers a zero-depth entry pool, locker rooms, showers and family changing area. There is a wading pool for pre-school aged children and toddlers (swim diapers required). Visit
