Vespa Hosts Wine Dinner
TODAY - Thursday, August 9, at 6:30PM Vespa Ristorante is offering an exclusive five-course wine-pairing meal, with a different hand-selected wine for each plate. This prix-fixe menu is $45.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and includes both the food and the wine. Space is limited, so reservations are required. Group Bike Ride
The Bicycle Chain hosts a group ride this Sunday, August 12 at 5:30PM. Meet at the shop and ride up to the trails at Carolina North. The ride lasts for about an hour or so, then head back to the shop! Meet at the shop located at 210 West Franklin Street.

City of Frogs: Summer Show
The 13th annual giant puppet pageant - City of Frogs - is the summer event for all ages in Forest Theatre. Brought to us by Paperhand Puppet Intervention. The show includes masks, stilt walkers, shadow puppets, and live music. Running August 10 through September 9, every weekend with evening and matinee shows. $12, $8 kids - suggested donation. Ironing Board Sam at Crunkleton

TODAY -Thursday, August 9 at 7:30PM classic blues artist Samuel Moore will be playing at The Crunkleton. Dubbed Ironing Board Sam for his unique invention of the "button board," a homemade portable keyboard which he mounted to an ironing board that simulated the Hammond B3 organ sound. Ironing Board Sam relocated to Chapel Hill in 2010 following Hurricane Katrina with the help of and The Crunkleton is honored to welcome such a talented and bona fide musician every Thursday from 7:30-10:00 pm. 
"Bugs Galore" in the Book Nook
Join Kidzu Children's Museum on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30AM for a free monthly reading series which promotes early literacy by bringing books to life from Kidzu's Book Nook exhibit area. This month, meet Amelia Leonard, a local 8-year-old whose drawings are published in a major picture book, Bugs Galore by Peter Stein. Come learn how Amelia's art was chosen to adorn this book. After her presentation, each participant can create his/her own bugs using this illustrator's method. Bring your own copy of Bugs Galore to have Amelia autograph! Program is free with museum admission.

Director's Choice: Art since 1950 from the Ackland Art Museum Collection (July 13 - August 26) Selected by Emily Kass, Director of the Ackland Art Museum, this exhibition brings together highlights from the Ackland's growing permanent collection of art since 1950. The 30 paintings, sculptures, and photographs in Director's Choice may even offer visitors hints of summertime places, activities, and sensations; consider Julian Stanczak's Glare, Felrath Hines' Aquatic Adventures, Jules Olitski's Waves and Clouds, and Burk Uzzle's Red Hamburgers. Museum admission is always free!
