Celebrating 10 years, the 2nd Friday Artwalk continues to grow and draw our community into the rich arts & culture offerings throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro! On Friday, September 14 from 6PM to 9PM, experience local arts in community venues. Many of the venues will have live music, good food & drinks, and other art related entertainment. ArtWalk venues include Ackland Museum Store, FRANK Gallery, Beehive Hair Salon, This & That, Vespertine, Focal Point Arts Gallery, and more! Free and open to all!

Fall Skies at Planetarium

Explore astronomy themes as a family at Morehead Planetarium on Saturday, September 15 from 3:30PM to 4:25PM! The engaging Star Families series is designed for children (ages 7-12) accompanied by their families.Star Families also appeals to Scout troops, 4-H clubs and other organizations that involve children and parents learning together. Music in the Galleries
Originally from Japan and now based in North Carolina, singer-songwriter Junko has performed as the lead singer in several local bands (FUJIYAMA ROLL, Wasabi &Tears, and Scientific Superstar) and appeared at many clubs and cultural events, both in the Triangle and beyond. Her music, sung in both Japanese and English, is a catchy blend of J-rock and J-pop. She'll be performing at Ackland Art Museum on Sunday, September 16 at 2PM; free and open to the public.

FRANK IN FOCUS, is a two month-long, town-wide festival of photography. In addition to an exhibit by eleven diverse fine-art photographers, there will be panel discussions, exhibitions, lectures, an outdoor slide show, an area-wide photo scavenger hunt, and much more.

Good Neighbor Party -TONIGHT!
The Good Neighbor Block Party will be held at 5PM,  Thursday, September 13 at the Hargraves Community Center, 216 N. Roberson St. The block party is designed to help residents in downtown neighborhoods meet each other and socialize in an evening of friendship, delicious free food, live music, games, raffle prizes and more. Clothes Hound Grand Opening!

Behind the Scenes at Ackland 
Wanna be a Museum VIP? Join Kidzu Children's Museum to ventue behind the scenes at the Ackland Art Museum on Thursday, September 13 from 4PM to 5:30PM and learn how works of art are stored, conserved, and exhibited. Then learn from working museum professionals what it takes to create your own model exhibits. Cost is $5 per child (ages 4-8 years). Adult supervision is required. Retro Dance Party  at Zog's
On Friday, September 14 at 9PM bust out your 90s gear and your cheeseball moves. Zog's is hosting its first dance party featuring the sweet sounds of DJ One Duran. They're moving the pool tables and pouring cheap drinks. Lose your inhibitions like it's 1994 all over again! NO COVER if you dress up 80s or 90s. The Banjo: An Exhibit
Experience an exhibit of banjo instruments and related items such as photographs and fliers at Wilson Library. The banjo event is the first of the three-part Southern Folklife Collection Instrument Series. Panels, exhibits, and concerts in 2013 will feature the pedal steel guitar and the fiddle. The series seeks to provide an opportunity for music lovers to learn from leading musicians and scholars about the music, history, and culture of the American South. Cooking Class at Vimala's
Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe offers Indian cooking classes to explore all the elements of an Indian curry, including the roasting and grinding of fresh spices, herbs, and bringing it all together. The ReCYCLEry NC is a non-profit that accepts donated bicycles and teaches bicycle repair and maintenance skills to community members while they earn their own bikes.  With a mission to educate the community on bicycle commuting and repair -located on Graham St- stop in during a Sunday Open Workshop!

PlayMakers Season Kicks-Off

PlayMakers Repertory Company kicks off its new main-stage season Sept. 19-Oct. 7 with John Logan's Tony Award-winning play "Red." The play goes into the studio of Mark Rothko, pioneer of abstract expressionism, and into the mind of an artist wrestling with the eternal struggle between art and commerce. Free Tutoring for Local Students
Street Scene Teen Center offers tutoring in all subjects by UNC students every day after school M-F from 3PM to 7PM. All subjects offered, FREE and open to all!
