Cave's Farewell Party
It's Mouse's last weekend at the Cave and Zen Frisbee's last show ever (again)! Come out on Friday, September 28 at 5PM for a potluck, bring some grub, then stick around for an all-star round-robin at 7:30 featuring Taz Halloween, Mark Simonsen, and Billy Sugarfix. Hang out late for Shark Quest and then Zen Frisbee's last show ever (again) at 10:00. 
Great Shoot Out is Back!
During this fundraising event for Kidzu Children's Museum your family will have the opportunity to have a portrait session with a local professional photographer on Sunday, September 30. Choose a session with a professional photographer online at Photo sessions will take place throughout the day at the North Carolina Botanical Gardens. $85 for members & $105 for nonmembers. Normally these sessions can cost up to $300!

Internationalist Books & Community Center hosts a free live music show on Saturday, September 29 at 9PM. Subculture Danger (punk/rock/ska/alt)  will be playing with Le Fomo, a solo project of Steph A. Nelson from San Fran.

Tour the Ackland
On Sunday, September 30 at 2PM Ackland Art Museum is offering a free public tour titled "Perspectives on Elegance and Extravagance in Japanese Design". Explore the artistic and cultural elements that shape the Ackland's exhibition of modern Japanese posters, Elegance and Extravagance, with its curator, Peter Nisbet, and graphic designer Molly Renda (Exhibit Program Librarian, NCSU Libraries).

Voice Box Youth Slam
Sacrificial Poets hosts a youth slam on Friday, September 28 at 7:30PM at Street Scene Teen Center (179 E. Franklin Street), $5. Sacrificial Poets is a spoken word poetry organization that serves middle, high school, and college-aged youth in the Triangle Area of North Carolina. The organization facilitates writing and performance workshops throughout the state and hosts regular youth poetry events.
The Rite of Spring at 100
Join Carolina Performing Arts to celebrate the official beginning of The Rite of Spring at 100. From galas and movies to concerts and artist symposiums, the weekend is full of events that offer a glimpse of The Rite of Spring and how its premiere signaled the birth of the modern era. OPENING GALA: Friday, September 28 at 6:30PM.  Two FREE events: Screening of the 2009 film Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky at the Varsity Theater on Saturday, September 29 at 7PM. Learn the stories, legends, and amazing history on a walking tour of campus, highlighting the past, present, and future Carolina. On Friday, September 29 at 3PM, this informative 55 minute stroll through the heart of our
historic campus takes you down the tree-lined, brick pathways of our nation's oldest state university. This tour is for all ages and will begin and end at UNC Visitors' Center, located inside the west entrance of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, at 250 East Franklin Street.

Carolina takes on Idaho on Saturday, September 29 at 3:30PM and it's UNC's Military Appreciation Day. 

UNC Football Game The Golden Knights Parachute team from Fort Bragg will jump into Kenan Stadium at approximately 3:15 p.m.  Their jump will be followed about 20 minutes later by an Air Force KC 135 Sratotanker from the Seymour Johnson Air Force base in Goldsboro which will fly over Kenan Stadium around 3:35 p.m. 


Football game days bring excitement and activity to downtown that everyone enjoys- even if you don't have tickets to the game! The Informed Collector 
The Getty Museum has called photography the "most important medium." With new records set at auctions seemingly every month, the value of the photograph is at an all time high. The wide range of contemporary photographic expression is producing a new generation of emerging artists whose work can be collected at very modest cost. FRANK In Focus hosts a discussion to help you become an informed photography collector on Sunday, Septmeber 30 from 1PM to 3PM at The Carolina Inn. Guided tour of The Carolina Inn photo exhibit from 3:00PM- 5:00PM.
