Windows on Chapel Hill, a joint project of the Town of Chapel Hill’s Parks & Recreation Cultural Arts Division, the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership,and smARTS Creative Program & Events are seeking artists to participate in developing eye-catching, pop-up art installations in downtown Chapel Hill storefronts and windows. All installation ideas will be considered and may include a performance art element in addition to a stand-alone installation. Artists are encouraged to send questions to the contact below and to discuss their project ideas before submitting their proposal. The installations must be completed and installed no later than March 1, 2014. Installations may remain for a period of up to 12 weeks. The duration of the installations may change due to availability of the store front windows.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists or teams 18 years or older residing in Orange, Durham, Chatham, Alamance, or Wake Counties with ties to Chapel Hill or Carrboro, North Carolina. Organizations and agencies are not eligible to apply, but can be named as a partner in an artists or teams proposal.
PROJECT BUDGET: Each selected artist or team will receive a $300 stipend to implement their installation. The funds received must cover all expenses related to the concept, design and implementation of the project.
