You don't have to save someone from a tall building or stop a villain from taking over the world to be a hero. Real heroes walk our streets every day. They are blood donors. Be a hero and contribute to the community blood supply at the Downtown Chapel Hill Blood Drive on Saturday, November 16, 2013 between 1:30 pm and 6:00 pm at the Franklin Hotel in downtown Chapel Hill. Give the gift of life Donors will enjoy a buffet of food sponsored by Tyler's Restaurant and Mediterranean Deli.
Local high school teens in Venture Crew 9 of Chapel Hill continue to work towards their service goals for the National Congressional Award as they plan their fifth blood drive this year to help save lives in the community. Venture Crew 9 has collected 142 pints of blood since the beginning of 2013. But the need for donations is ongoing, and the crew of boys and girls hope to make their fifth blood drive even bigger.
The Franklin Hotel is located at 311 West Franklin Street. Parking is available behind the hotel. For public parking options visit www.parkonthehill.com.
Every two seconds someone needs blood. Unfortunately, only 3% of the population donates blood. That's why the need is continuous, and the appeals are ongoing. Please sign up to give today! Go to www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code "chapelhill" to schedule your life-saving appointment. Or, contact a crew member at firstname.lastname@example.org.
