FREE Holiday Parking   
Parking is FREE on weekends in downtown Chapel Hill this holiday season! Parking at on-street meters and off-street lots is free on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of December. These lots are free until 5pm on the same Saturdays: Wallace Parking Deck located at 150 E. Rosemary St., 140 West Lot, and at the Rosemary /Columbia Lot at 100 E. Rosemary St.  
St. Nick Salon 
TODAY -Thursday, December 5 from 6 pm to 8 pm: The artists of FRANK are hosting a casual gathering and all are welcome to join! This event is free; all they ask is that you bring along a donation for the art cart at the N.C. Cancer Hospital's Expressive Arts Program and some holiday cheer! All ages are encouraged to attend. 
Nutcracker Ballet 
Saturday, December 7 at 2 pm & 8 pm; Sunday, December 8 at 2 pm: It's the classic holiday Nutcracker from the Carolina Ballet that you know and love, but now like nothing you've ever seen at Memorial Hall! Ticket and performance information at:

Lessons and Carols 

Sunday, December 8 at 7 pm: UNC student members of University United Methodist Church will lead a traditional service of Lessons and Carols readings from scriptures, music groups from other ministries and glee clubs provide music. The congregation will also join in singing carols, and the service will end with "Silent Night" being sung by candlelight. Hot chocolate will be served after the service. All are welcome.  
Ugly Sweater Day

Go ahead and put on the ugliest holiday sweater you've got! Beer Study is hosting  Ugly Sweater Day on Monday, December 9 at 5 pm and of course the ugliest wins!

Jazz for the Holidays

Monday, December 9 at 7:30 pm: Swing into the holidays with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra (NCJRO) at Memorial Hall on campus, presenting a distinct collection of holiday classics and jazz standards that are sure to add a little sparkle to the season. Comprising 17 of the state's finest jazz musicians, the band is led by co-founder Jim Ketch, Director of Jazz Studies and professor of music at UNC.

Winter Stories for Children

Storytellers and musicians will entertain children of all ages with music and sing-alongs at the Friends of the Library's 21st annual Winter Stories program in Wilson Library on UNC's campus TODAY - Thursday, December 5 at 5 pm. Free and open to all. Refreshments will be available.  

Free Holiday Concert Downtown
Add a description   On Saturday, December 7 at 6 pm enjoy a FREE outdoor concert of holiday music performed by local musicians from the Gathering Church. They will perform new takes on traditional Christmas songs from the Gathering Church's album Christmas Nights. The concert will be in the Memorial Garden at University Baptist Church; 100 S. Columbia Street.   
Student Holiday Print & Art Sale

Purchase original UNC student artworks at very reasonable prices at this annual event on Friday, December 6 from 10 am to 9 pm. You will find great art gifts for the holidays including hand made screen prints, relief prints, photographs, ceramics, drawings, paintings, digital works and more! Held in the Print Studio on the third floor of the Hanes Art Center; room 301; next door to the Ackland Art Museum. 

It's a Wonderful Life Showing

Nothing conveys that true love and spirit of community like the classic It's a Wonderful Life movie. Community Home Trust is holding a FREE showing of the film on Saturday, December 7 at 6:45 pm at Varsity Theatre. Doors open at 6:15 pm. Tickets are FREE! All are invited; while tickets last. TABLE Holiday Fundraiser

Parents who are dependent on the free meals at school to nourish their kids have to stretch their income to provide food for their kids for 2 - 3 additional weeks each November and December. Mediterranean Deli is generously contributing 100% of all proceeds to TABLE on Sunday, December 8 from 6 pm to 8 pm to provide kids with extra food over the holidays. Tickets $40. Downtown Holiday Parade

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade, presented by The Jaycees, will be held on Saturday, December 14 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The parade starts at the Morehead Planetarium and runs the entire length of Franklin Street to Carrboro Town Hall. Stake out your curbside spot and enjoy a great community tradition!  

Brunch with Santa at Carolina Inn

Enjoy brunch with Santa at the Carolina Inn; a festive time that will undoubtedly usher in the Christmas magic for young and old alike. Now until Sunday, December 15, when you buy a class pass at Franklin Street Yoga Center you get to open a gold box that may contain a tag that reads 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% off the pass you are buying. Lighting The Franklin Hotel

Wednesday, December 11 from 5: 30 pm to 7:30 pm: The Franklin Hotel is hosting the 4th annual unveiling of their Holiday window displays. Come walk the red carpet for an up close first look at a magical winter wonderland.
