Tom Scheidler and his business partners Jim Handoush and Mike Itayem have opened Top This!, a new restaurant that lets folks create their own sandwich experience. The unique concept of a consumer craving menu was born after many years of researching the market, with a focus on capturing the foodie cravings and desires of every single guest. Top This! Roast Beef, Burgers and More, a full service restaurant serving lunch and dinner,is open at 161 E. Franklin Street in the former Jack Sprat location.
“We were well aware that the Better Burger Joints were going to become a saturated market, so we aimed to be unique. We have created a menu that offers our customers the best quality and best selection, simply the Best of the Best. Restaurants come and go,” says Scheidler, “but when you are offering the customer the chance to choose a meat, choose a bun, and choose from over 40 fresh and fun toppings on their sandwich, it shows you are trying harder to make a better product.”
Featuring Grade A Angus Beef, and in-house slow roasted beef, Top This! believes that both the residents of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and the student population, will welcome a healthy new alternative on Franklin Street. The large selection of sandwich fillings and toppings is what Top This! calls their “WOW” Factor, a phenomenon that occurs when customers get a look at their own personally designed sandwich.
“We want people to know that we are affordable, that our food is always fresh, and that we are here to be a long-standing partner in the community. Our customers will never be disappointed with the proportions and will always come back to our ‘Fast Casual With A Twist’ environment,” says Scheidler.
