Tea Party at La Residence
La Residence is offering a complimentary tea party TODAY - Thursday, May 23 from 2:30PM to 4:30PM. Food will be prepared by the Blakemere Company. Enjoy scones and jam, finger sandwiches, cake and of course - tea! Call/email with time and party size if you would like to book a complimentary table and bring some friends and co-workers! 
Artist Social at FRANK Gallery  
Join FRANK TODAY- Thursday, May 23 from 6PM to 8PM as they welcome five new consigning artists. Julie Brooks (jeweler), Debi Drew (jeweler), Anne Gregory (painter), O'Neal Jones (woodworker), and Gregg Kemp (photographer). Light refreshments will be provided. CURRENTLY ON EXHIBIT: Rubbish 2 Runway- featuring dresses fashioned entirely from recycled materials through July 7, 2013. Student designers from high school through college, as well as professional artists have submitted garments as part of this "trashion" show and exhibit.

Fridays on the Front Porch
The Carolina Inn hosts Fridays on the Front Porch every week at 5PM. The Inn offers live music, a picnic menu with beer, wine and drink specials, and plenty of comfortable seating under the shady trees on the Inn's front lawn. No cover charge or reservations for the event.

Patio Concert at The Standard

On Friday, May 24 at 10PM The Standard welcomes The Saggy Naturals performing on the patio. Bring in the weekend with some good music, great food and drinks; $3.50 craft beers and $5 mango mojitos! 
International Dance Party
On Saturday, May 25 Talulla's hosts a global dance party. Come out with friends early for a traditional Turkish dinner and dancing along with a belly dancer performance from AZUL. Dance party starts at 10PM with a resident DJ Freedom; enjoy his twist of international music from around the world! Everyone is welcome for this special event- no cover. Walk This Way! Cemetery Tour

On Sunday, May 26 at 2PM go beyond the grave and tour this National Register of Historical Places site and lean more about the famous - and infamous - interred! The tour begins at the Old Chapel Hill Cemetery Gazebo, South Road on UNC's campus. The 90 minute tour costs $5.

Children's Author Talk & Book Signing
TODAY - Thursday, May 23 at 7PM, 2013 Piedmont Laureate John Claude Bemis will discuss and sign his series of books -The Clockwork Dark Trilogy - as part of the Ackland Museums Store's "Steampunk, Southern Folklore, and The Clockwork Dark" exhibit. An inspiring speaker and entertaining performer, John Claude Bemis brings his passions for music, folklore, and spinning exciting tales to his novels and presentations. Bemis will share how he mined Steampunk archetypes to create the magical America depicted in The Clockwork Dark trilogy. His all-ages presentation will be followed by a signing of The Clockwork
Dark trilogy.

Downtown streets were filled last week with the annual Spring Roll Cruiser Ride to celebrate National Bike Month. 
Fridays on Franklin: Swing Dancing!

Yoga in the Galleries at Ackland
The best yoga deal in town continues through the summer continues on Tuesday, May 28 at 12PM! Registered yoga teacher Joanne Marshall leads you through a series of gentle yoga poses inspired by the art in the gallery. Beginners are welcome and yoga mats are provided. Raise the Bar: Free Training
Raise the Bar, an initiative of UNC Student Wellness,is an outreach/education effort aimed at local bars & restaurants on drug facilitated sexual assault and teaches bar staff how to recognize and intervene when they see warning signs of drug facilitated sexual assault. Raise the Bar will be hosting a FREE pilot bystander intervention training on Tuesday May 28 from 1:30PM to 3PM at Graham Memorial Hall, Room 035. Graham Memorial Hall is located on East Franklin Street, next to the Morehead Planetarium. The training is free and any bar staff (owners, managers, bartenders, hosts, etc.) from local establishments are welcome.
