Pecha Kucha Night!

Pecha kucha means the sound of conversation! On Monday, June 3 at 6PM at Top of the Hill Restaurant in Back Bar, 8 presenters will lead you in a conversation about a wide variety of topics. They each have 20 slides and 20 seconds-a-slide to amaze the crowd! $5 suggested donation.  / 
Bicycle Chain Group Trail Ride
Whether this is your first Mountain Bike ride, or you want to increase your single track skills, come join the Chapel Hill Bicycle Chain group ride every Sunday at 5PM. Meet at the store, at 210 W. Franklin Street, do a quick tire check and then ride the Carolina North Forest trails for about an hour and a half. This will be a no drop ride, but the terrain does require a shop quality mountain bike.

Thursday, June 13 at 10:30am: Korean-English Storytime with Craft: Free drop-in program.
June 27, 10:00am-12:00pm: Messy Morning in the Art Room: Monthly art time for the youngest visitors (ages 2-5). Each month they feature different materials and supplies to create fun and messy art. Projects usually take 10-15 minutes to complete and can be done at any time during this program.
Sunday, June 30 at 4:00pm: Spanish-English Storytime with Craft: Free drop-in program.

Sugarland Fundraiser for Monroe, OK
Recently the family of one of Sugarland's favorite employees lost everything in the May 20th tornado that devastated Moore, Oklahoma. Sugarland will be holding a benefit day - Wednesday, June 5 - for her and her family, and other victims of the tornado by donating 100% of the proceeds from both stores to the relief efforts. They'll be accepting donations of personal hygiene items and gift cards to be included in care packages to be sent to the town. For a list of items visit And if you bring in at least $50 worth of gift cards, they'll give you a certificate for a free dozen cupcakes!
Documentary Screening at Nightlight
On Sunday, June 2 at 8PM Nightlight Club is showing a special screening of the documentary Atitlan in Bloom. In 2009, filmmakers John Meyer, Zafer Ulkucu, and Daniel Abell traveled to Guatemala to make a documentary about foreign followers of 2012 doomsday predictions based on the Mayan calendar. As director Meyer provocatively asks in the opening moments of the film: "Why make a film about the end of the world, when we just found a part of it we like so much?" Special acoustic sets from Secret Boyfriend and Lazy Magnet. $5 dollars for the film, Hot and "Veggie" dogs will be for sale, grilled on site!

Shambling Guide to NYC Launch Party
Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce that as part of their 10th/35th Anniversary Festivities, they will host a release party for Mur Lafferty's new book, The Shambling Guide to New York City! The event will be from 7pm until 9pm on Saturday, June 1. Chapel Hill Comics will have copies of the book on hand. This is a prose novel, not a comic, though it does sport a fantastic cover by noted comic artist Jamie McKelvie!  
Art Adventures for Kids at Ackland
Saturday, June 1 at 10:30AM & 1PM: Designed for 6- to 9-year-olds, Art Adventures sessions provide kids with a guided view of art in the Ackland's galleries, followed by the opportunity to create take-home treasures in an adjacent art studio using newly-learned art-making techniques. This month, be inspired by ceramic bowls in the Ackland Art Museum's Chinese collection and create your own artwork that's both pretty and has a purpose. Materials are provided. On Agate Hill, A One-Woman Play
The Chapel Hill Historical Society presents On Agate Hill, featuring Barbara Bates Smith with musical accompaniment by Jeff Sebens on Sunday, June 2 from 5PM to 7PM at Top of the Hill. Based on the book by Lee Smith, Barbara Bates Smith plays Molly Petree, who, after the Civil War, risks everything to hold on to her own nature and to true love. All proceeds support the programs of the Chapel Hill Historical Society. The evening includes hors d'oeuvres, and wine. LUNAFEST Filmfestival

Team LUNA Chix Chapel Hill Cycling is pleased to be partnering with Girls on the Run of the Triangle for LUNAFEST in the Great Room at Top of the Hill on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30PM. LUNAFEST is a film festival of short films by, for and about women. In addition to the films, guests will also enjoy a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres and wonderful raffle prizes.
