 Tar Heel Downtown is bringing the Carolina game day spirit to the heart of downtown Chapel Hill Saturday, October 18 from 3 pm to 6 pm, along West Franklin Street near the Plaza at 140 West, prior to a 7 p.m. kick-off when the University of North Carolina Tar Heels take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. For more information, go to

Tar Heel Downtown is a pregame, fan-experience on Franklin Street, featuring free activities, vendors, food, and fun for everyone; including:
  • live outdoor concert by the Breakfast Club, a 1980's tribute band 
  • interactive playground with bounce houses 
  • a rock climbing wall
  • face painting 
  • UNC Marching Tar Heels & UNC cheerleaders 
  • Pre-game show live broadcast 
  • Tar Heel Tailgate Food Court on the 140 West Plaza
  • And of course...Rameses will be there too! 

Take Tar Heel Express Downtown
Tar Heel Express shuttles will be running from University Mall and will make stops at the Varsity Theatre on East Franklin Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tar Heel Express shuttles from the Giles Horney lot on Martin Luther King Jr. BLVD will make stops at Franklin Street and Columbia Street starting at 5:30 p.m. For more information on Tar Heel Express, CLICK HERE.
Cancer Awareness Game Day Too!
The UNC vs Georgia Tech is also the Cancer Awareness Game Day. Join Chapel Hill Fire Department and UNC Lineberger at Tar Heel Downtown and then later at Kenan Memorial Stadium to raise awareness and fight cancer! Watch your favorite Tar Heel players and coaches support cancer awareness while wearing their pink gear and hear special messages from some very special Tar Heels during the game.
