Kids and families can enjoy ringing in the new year too at Night Lights: A Family New Year's Eve on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in downtown Chapel Hill at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. 


This is the second annual NIGHT LIGHTS event, after a very successful inaugural year.  The event offers family-friendly crafts, activities, performances, refreshments, and a kids' countdown under the stars in the fulldome theater to ring in the new year! 
The event is $5 / person. 
Space is limited, registration is required.

  • Glow Hoop Play w/ The FlowJo Studio
  • Make-and-take LED light-up jewelry & constellation viewers
  • Black (corn)Hole Planet Toss
  • Illuminated interactive dance performance
  • Star shows throughout the afternoon in the fulldome theater
  • Science demos 
  • Sweet treats and hot drinks, while supplies last
Calling All Volunteers!
We still have volunteer slots available for Night Lights. This is a CHCCS service-learning approved event! Volunteers will assist with arts & crafts, activities, and at information tables.
