Tar Heel 10 Miler is this weekend

This Saturday the Tar Heel 10 Miler will be running through downtown Chapel Hill!  Come out early, grab some breakfast downtown and cheer on the runners as they race down Franklin Street.

Downtown Detour Info

The 10 Miler runners will be passing through Chapel Hill’s downtown district and many of its most beautiful neighborhoods:

Battle Park, Historic Rosemary, Gimghoul, Greenwood, and Laurel Hill. In all cases, cars should use extreme caution and heed the directions of police and race course marshals. Impact time frames and local traffic instructions available below.

Downtown / 7:15-8:45 AM

Both westbound lanes of Franklin St will be closed from 7:15-8:45 AM from Park Lane to Graham St. Both eastbound lanes of Franklin St will be closed from 7:15-8:45 AM from Graham St to Columbia St. All eastbound traffic coming from Carrboro is advised to use Rosemary St eastbound or Merritt Mill Rd southbound. Franklin St will be closed at Estes Drive and Merritt Mill Rd from 7:15-8:45 AM. Only local through traffic will be allowed to residents that live between Estes Rd and Park Ln.

Historic Rosemary / 7:30-8:15 AM

The following roads will be closed within the Historic Rosemary neighborhood: N. Boundary St from Franklin St to North St, East Rosemary St from Hillsborough St to Glenburnie St, Glenburnie St from Rosemary St to North St, North St from Glenburnie St to Hillsborough St, and Hillsborough St from North St to Franklin St.
