Music on the Porch 
TODAY -Thursday, August 28 at 5:30 pm: Kick off the 2014-2015 Music on the Porch series at the Love House at 410 Franklin Street, with North Carolina hip-hop/funk rebels Shirlette Ammons and jocElyn Ellis. Both musicians are part of the Next Level hip-hop diplomacy program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and directed by UNC Music professor Mark Katz. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and stay for a while! 
Scotch Whisky Tasting 
TODAY - Thursday, August 28 from 8 pm to 10 pm: The Crunkleton hosts a Balvenie Scotch Whisky tasting. Get there early, first come and first serve basis only.  
Walking Food Tour
Saturday, August 30: Go behind the scenes of Chapel Hill and Carrboro restaurants to experience where farm-to-table cuisine comes to life. Sample innovative and upscale southern dishes, scratch-made desserts, organic wine, local beer, and more. Offering two tours of Chapel Hill/Carrboro on Saturdays, a Culinary Tour starting at 11 am or a Dinner and Drinks Tour starting at 3 pm. 
Poster Sale Open to All!
Everyday until August 29 from 10am to 5pm, the annual poster sale is taking place in the Street Scene Teen Center, under the Post Office, at 179 East Franklin Street. The sale features 1000's of art, photography, and music posters - great for the dorm room, class room or living room! A portion of the sales support the Street Scene Teen Center in providing a safe environment and arts programming for teens after-school and on the weekends.
Live Music at R&R Grill
Every Wednesday until October 8 - come to R&R Grill and dance! Enjoy great, local, live beach and motown music. All shows are from 6 pm to 9 pm, with a $5 cover. This week Wednesday, September 3  features local favorites The Band of Oz!  
Masterpiece Mondays
Every Monday starting at 7 pm: Come draw from still life arrangements curated by local artist Johanan Gaddy and Mandey from Zog's. No experience needed. Materials and light snacks provided. If you have fancy paper or pencils you'd rather use, feel free to bring them! More Info.

Go Heels! Football Game Day Info
Carolina takes on Liberty University on Saturday, August 30 at 6 pm in Kenan Stadium! Football game days bring excitement and UNC Football Game activity to downtown that everyone enjoys. Buy tickets to the game. Enjoy dining on Franklin Street before or after the game. Stop by one of downtown's bustling UNC Fan Gear shops that sell all things UNC-themed! Take the Tar Heel Express downtown and to the game! 
Pre-Game Show at Franklin Hotel
"Countdown to Kick-Off" Football Pre-Game Show is coming to downtown Chapel Hill this Fall for UNC's home football season.  Two hours prior to each Home game, the Kick-Off Show is hosted live by Dave Nathan and Deems May (Former Tight End at Carolina, and NFL player) at the Franklin Hotel at 311 West Franklin Street.  The Countdown show will be in the hotel's 1st floor bar - Roberts at The Franklin.    There will be a special free night/football tickets promotion going on through Tar Heel Sports Properties. 
Paperhand Puppet Intervention 
The Painted Bird, the 15th annual puppet pageant for all ages in Forest Theatre, runs from August 8 to September 7. With both matinee and night shows; every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. $12, $8 kids, suggested donation at the door.
Tailgate'Inn on the Front Porch
Saturday, August 30: The Carolina Inn kicks off the seventh season of its Tailgate'Inn on the Front Porch this weekend. For each UNC home football game, there will be a build your own Bloody Mary Bar with a variety of mixes available including the Inn's signature extra spicy "InnCinerator" served on the front porch. The Inn offers plenty of comfortable seating under the shady oaks and magnolias on the Inn's front lawn along with Big Screen TVs and corn hole games. There is no cover charge. 
Opening Reception at Ackland Store 
Saturday, August 30 from 6 pm to 8 pm: Join Ackland Museum Store for an opening reception for The Green Fuse: Paintings and Drawings by Laura Frankstone and Ippy Patterson, an exhibition of floral-themed art by two local artists. The exhibition will be on view through Sunday, 26 October 2014. All works on view are for sale and proceeds benefit the Ackland Art Museum. 
Improv Slam for the Whole Family
Saturday, August 30 from 3 pm & 7 pm: A freestyle comedy battle that's fun for all ages! Two crews of improvisers fight for your laughs in this high energy, interactive show that'll have kids and parents laughing all night long. The 3 pm matinee offers kids under 3 for FREE! Get tickets online at
