TONIGHT-Thursday, August 7 - and every Thursday: Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe hosts live music from local band Southern Routes in the wonderfully relaxing Courtyard. Come out and listen to fabulous music and indulge in delicious food. And Pakoras and plantains are back on the menu! 
Elaine's Prix-Fixe Menu
Perfect for a pre-theater or post-meeting meal, join Elaine's for this three course early menu. Pairing bold flavors with local ingredients; $35 per person or $50 per person with wine pairings. Offered 5:30-6:30PM; Tuesday through Saturday.

Greek Myths Star Show

Saturday, August 9 from 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm: Morehead Planetarium hosts this star show and invites you to hear tales of monsters, gods, and more while learning how to identify constellations all based on Greek myths and legends! $5 per person or $4 for members.  

Drawing for Tweens 
Saturday, August 9 from 10:30 am to 12 pm: Drawing for Tweens provides 10- to 13-year-olds with a guided look at selected works in the Ackland Art Museum's galleries and hands-on time to try new drawing techniques. The theme for Saturday is "An Eye for the Unexpected". Materials provided. Free to members, $5 per child for non-members.

Saturday, August 9 from 10 am to 12 pm: Amanda Hughes (Director of External Affairs at Ackland Museum) leads participants in a creative exploration of a particular object in the Ackland's collection. For all sessions, bring paper and dry media (crayon, pencils, etc.). All levels are welcome. Free and open to the public. 
Music at Mellow Mushroom
Wednesday, August 13 from 8 pm to 10 pm: The Windy Hill Duo (Light Rock Covers) will be performing at Mellow Mushroom. Enjoy a good meal, a cold beer, and some good tunes! Located at 310 West Franklin Street. 
2nd Friday ArtWalk Tomorrow!

The 2ndFriday ArtWalk is Friday, August 8 from 6 pm to 9 pm with 16 venues participating this month throughout Chapel Hill & Carrboro. Enjoy live music, good food & drinks, and other art related entertainment. Shop local art like unique jewelry, scarves, handmade paper goods, ceramics, fine art, and more!

Hip Hop, Beatboxing, Improv Comedy
Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9; 8:30 pm: Established in 2009, North Coast is New York City's premier hip hop improv comedy team and they'll be a DSI Comedy Theater this weekend! In addition to performing at venues all over NYC, they currently tour around the country teaching workshops & doing their improvised "hip hopera" at festivals, universities & comedy theaters alike! Friday featuring: Opening Act Zach Ward and Ashley Melzer (aka Red Beard) & Saturday featuring: Opening Act Zach Ward and special guest Asaf Ronen. 
Paperhand Puppet Intervention Show

 The Painted Bird, the 15th annual puppet pageant for all ages in Forest Theatre, runs from August 8 to September 7. With both matinee and night shows; every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. $12, $8 kids, suggested donation at the door. 
Walk This Way! Tour of Franklin St
Sunday, August 10 at 2 pm: Explore beautiful Franklin Street and learn about how the village of Chapel Hill and UNC developed and grew together over the centuries. Franklin Street is part of the Chapel Hill National Historic District and the Franklin-Rosemary Local Historic District. Tour begins at the Horace Williams House (610 E. Rosemary) Tour is primarily on sidewalks. Tour is $5 per person, no reservation necessary. 
Humor Games at DSI Comedy 
Tuesday, August 12 at 8:30 pm: There can be only one winner in Humor Games - may the odds be ever in your favor! Watch as 12 comedic tributes battle for survival through a series of improvised games. The game makers will ensure that only half survive beyond the first round. In this Panem, only one can survive. Sign up to be a tribute!  
FREE Movie Under the Stars: Raising Arizona
Enjoy a free screening of a modern classic on Friday, August 15 on the roof of Wallace Parking Deck in beautiful downtown Chapel Hill. Raising Arizona (1987 - PG13) will be shown at sunset (approx. 8:30 pm) on Wallace Plaza at 150 East Rosemary Street. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic dinner from a downtown restaurant. FREE popcorn too!
