Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony

Join us in welcoming the holiday season at the Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Memorial Garden of University Baptist Church; 100 S. Columbia Street. Enjoy caroling with the church choir.  Bring your camera - children can meet Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus! Free.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade

The Giving Season

Outdoor Holiday Concert

Saturday, Dec 5 | 6 pm

Enjoy a festive outdoor concert of holiday music performed by local musicians from the Gathering Church. They will perform new takes on traditional Christmas songs from their album Christmas Nights. 2015 Holiday House Tour

Preservation Chapel Hill presents this annual tradition with a tour of featuring five homes, as well as the Chapel of the Cross and the Horace Williams House (home of Preservation Chapel Hill). Advance tickets are $22 for members and $27 for the general public. For tickets visit

NIGHT LIGHTS

Thursday, Dec 31 | 3 - 6 pm

Now kids can enjoy ringing in the new year too at NIGHT LIGHTS in downtown Chapel Hill at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. Free Weekend Public Parking

Shop local and shop downtown Chapel Hill for the holidays! The Town of Chapel Hill's parking specials begin for Thanksgiving, with metered parking and Town-owned lots being free on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27.  Free parking continues throughout December during Saturday daytimes at all Town-owned parking lots and metered parking.  After 5 p.m. normal rates will be charged.  Public parking is always free on Sundays!
