TONIGHT-Thursday, April 30 from 8 pm to 10 pm: The Strowd will be the setting for a music video shooting of the song "Bartender" by Ian Burton Group ( Come to dance, hang out, and enjoy the free show -- and be in the video! The Strowd is located at 159 1/2 East Franklin Street, above Sutton's Drugstore. 
University Florist Sale

Thrill City Block Party
Saturday, May 1 from 2 pm to 8 pm: Thrill City is closing their online business and West Franklin shop as the owners move on to pursue challenges and opportunities that await them elsewhere. But before they go on they are leaving in their usual style, with a grand block party. And all are invited. 
May Day Festival 
Saturday, May 2 from 11 am to 3 pm: Everybody is welcome to come celebrate the promise of home with Northside neighbors and The Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History. Enjoy music, dancing, face painting, open mic, and hot dogs on the grill!
Studio Saturdays at Ackland Art Museum
Saturday, May 2 from 10:30 am to 5 pm: Studio Saturdays offer a variety of hands-on classes and activities for all ages at Ackland Art Museum. Make art inspired by works in the Ackland's collections! Studio Saturday Classes include Drawing for Tweens, Drawing in the Galleries, and Art Adventures for kids. Some fees may apply. 
Free Comic Book Day
Saturday, May 2: It's Free Comic Book Day around the world and Chapel Hill Comics invites all to join in the fun. Get there early for free comics from all the publishing companies, guest artist Warren Wucinich will be there doing sketches,
prizes, and more.
80's Dance Party 
Saturday, May 2 at 9 pm: Come celebrate the decade of the 90's at The Baxter Artcade with sweet dance tunes from DJ Brief Nudity plus featured drinks. Throw on those cross color jeans, grab your pogz, and check that AOL mail with The Baxter! 
Trivia, Movie, & Pizza 
Sunday, May 3 at 7 pm: Local 506 hosts Kids In the Hall trivia, a screening, and pizza party, for free! Trivia teams of 4 players and pizza from Italian Pizzeria 3. The winning team gets a $25 bar tab and one pass per team member to an upcoming show.
Switching Gears Family Bike Night

Friday, May 1 from 6 pm to 9 pm: Kick off Bike Month on the 140 West Plaza, as cyclists of all ages are invited to this free event. Activities include a Bike Parade, live music from family-friendly band Sandbox, Gold Sprints (stationary bike racing against the clock), Bikes on Bus Workshop, children's safety events, helmet decorating, bells and lights for bikes station, and more! Bike Alliance Chapel Hill and Carrboro Bicycle Coalition will lead the famous Switching Gears Bike Parade designed for a quick ride for all ages around downtown!  /
Teen Science Fiction Movie Night
Friday, May 1 at 5:30 pm: The science fiction disaster movie "The Day After Tomorrow" is known for its big Hollywood budget and famous stars. But how does the science stack up? Find out when Morehead Planetarium and Science Center hosts a viewing for Teen Science Fiction Movie Night! Rated PG-13. 
"Mary's Wedding" at PlayMakers
Show running April 29 to May 3: On the eve of her wedding to another man, Mary dreams of meeting a young soldier, their blossoming love, and the winds of fate that blew them apart when he goes to battle in World War I. 2nd Anniversary Party at Fitzgerald's
Saturday, May 2: Celebrate the 2 year anniversary with Fitzgerald's Irish Pub and enjoy drink specials, souvenir cups, live music, games, and party favors. Check out their new patio renovations (assisted with a grant from the Downtown Partnership!). It's going to a be a gorgeous and fun-filled day you don't want to miss! 
Civil War Exhibit Opening
Sunday, May 3 from 2 pm to 4 pm: Preservation Chapel Hill is hosting an opening reception for "It's because we are going towards home:" Sense of Place among Civil War-Era North Carolinians." This exhibit explores North Carolinians' thoughts about "home" during and after the Civil War. The exhibit will be on display at the Horace Williams House throughout May.
Fridays on the Front Porch

Every Friday at 5 pm: Join the Carolina Inn for the weekly Fridays on the Front Porch now until October. Relax on the shady front porch while enjoying live music and delicious fare. No cover charge or reservations required.  
Spring Loaded Show at DSI 
Saturday, May 2 at 8:30 pm: A DSI-Original Sketch Comedy Revue conceived and created by a team of local comedy writers at DSI and directed by Zach Ward Spring Loaded is an original sketch comedy show about coming into adulthood and maybe coming out, high school graduations and technical colleges, memories you'll remember forever and some "best friends forever" you would love to forget.
