What a gorgeous time of year for ArtWalking and ArtShopping! Enjoy dinner out at a favorite restaurant while you are ArtWalking! The 2nd Friday ArtWalk features galleries, retail shops, studios, and venues throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Experience the creative arts scene in our community and socialize with other art lovers! Venues offer live music, food, activities, and more. Buy local art in all mediums; handmade jewelry, scarves, paper goods, ceramics, fine art, and more.

In conjunction with the 2nd Friday ArtWalk, SHIMMER is a free outdoor event, bringing together artists who use light as a form of expression and creating a sense of community. Featuring more than 20 illuminated art installations, light projection art, and illuminated programmatic components, it will incorporate interior and exterior spaces, partner venues, cultural institutions and businesses.

The Bazaar is an arts and crafts market that will take place on the Carrboro Town Commons from 1 pm to 6 pm on 3rd Sundays Sept, Oct & Nov, 2015. Now looking for vendors! There is a $50 fee (per month/market) for a 9x11 covered space, and a $30 fee (per month/market) for a 10x10 uncovered space (will need to provide own canopy tent for sun/rain). The Art of Recycling: Opening Reception for the Scrapel Hill Art Exhibit

Twenty highly imaginative artworks and installations by 11 artists, creatively produced from recycled, repurposed, or cast-off materials, will be on display in the Sixth Annual Scrapel Hill Art Competition & Exhibit at University Place Sept. 10 -Nov. 15, 2015. An artists' reception and awards ceremony, open to the public, are scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 11 as part of the 2nd Friday ArtWalk. The exhibit, on display at University Place, also features a special night of shopping at the stores inside the mall, live music, and light refreshments. The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership works to bring together the resources of the Town, University and downtown community to maintain, enhance and promote downtown as the social, cultural, and spiritual center of Chapel Hill through economic development.
