Mister Diplomat: True Stories, Free Comedy 

Every Friday at 10 pm

DSI's flagship show features true stories told by a local celebrity or special guest. Those anecdotes inspire a world of captivating scenes, fully improvised by some of the most skilled improv comedians in North Carolina. This week's host is Penn Holderness; featuring Zach Ward, Robby Cochran, Shane Ryan, Andy Lavender, Jack Reitz, and Bianca Casusol. 

Chili Cook-Off 

Sunday, Feb 28 | 5 pm

Beer Study is hosting a Chili Cook-Off so bring your best! There will be a crowd choice winner as well as a panel winner. Prizes include gift certificates to Beer Study, Al's Burger Shack, The Baxter Arcade, and the top winner will have their recipe featured at Al's once a week for a month. 

Family & Friends Day at Ackland Museum

Sunday, Feb 28 | 1-5 pm

SEE: Explore the Walls of Color: The Murals of Hans Hofmann. PLAY: See who finishes first in a round of “Hans Hofmann-opoly” or sleuth out art gems from the collection in a competitive game of Ackland Bingo. MAKE: Create cut-paper mosaic inspired by Hans Hofmann’s works and make a group tiled mosaic in the galleries. LEARN: Take a guided tour of the exhibit. For all ages. 

Weekly Live Jazz

Every Monday | 7-9 pm

Imbibe, located at 108 Henderson St, hosts live jazz featuring trombonist Danny Grewen and pianist Robert Griffin. Come be serenaded while you enjoy handmade flatbread pizzas and gumbo and draft beer. More Info Here.

Salsa Lessons & Dancing

Every Monday | 8:30 pm

Roots Bakery, Bistro & Bar hosts salsa dancing with DJ Abuelo Salsero Jack. Enjoy Salsa along with Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha, and Kizomba. Salsa lessons start at 8:30 pm, open dancing until 11:30 pm. Cover is $5. /

Carolina Science Cafe

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center hosts this free, current science awareness program at the Back Bar. Designed for adults to explore the science topics making national and international headlines and offers the chance to meet the experts behind the headlines. Thursday, Feb 25: Fighting Zika with UNC Virologist Dr. Helen Lazear. Wednesday, March 2: Diet, Current Science and Cancer with Dr. Sergey Krupenko.

Two New Yoga Classes

Franklin Street Yoga Center is offering AcroYoga Jams starting Thursday, February 25: Improvisational sessions where practitioners of all levels learn from each other and experiment with new acro yoga skills. No experience needed! Handstand Class March 5-April 30: Learn techniques and conditioning exercises needed to achieve a stable handstand as well as different ways to get into it and out of it.
