The Town of Chapel Hill, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and downtown business owners are working together to make parking downtown more convenient!

Here are some facts about parking in the downtown area to be aware of!

Download the Parkmobile app! You can easily pay, check the time left on your meter, and re-load more money from your phone. This makes downtown parking more convenient!

 
 

The west end of Franklin Street offers a free valet parking service. Just drop off your keys and let us find you a space!

 
 

 Every Saturday in July, downtown Chapel Hill is offering free 2 hour on-street parking! These are all highly visible and desirable parking spaces with convenient access for residents and visitors to shop, dine and enjoy downtown Chapel Hill. 

 
 

Responding to concerns expressed by businesses and other stakeholders about parking availability, the Town of Chapel Hill and the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership have worked together to design a pilot program to move employee cars to more remote lots to free up downtown parking for visitors.

  7. Prefer valet? 18 businesses participate in FREE valet parking

  8. Need Monthly Parking? Monthly parking available in centrally located areas.

  9. Parking is friendly! Chapel Hill has issued over 26,400 “courtesy” tickets to first-time violators of expired meters. “Hey, we don’t like to give tickets!”

  10. Discount anyone? Purchase parking vouchers for your business customers at Parking Services at Chapel Hill Police Department, 828 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. We have vouchers available for 140 West, Wallace, Rosemary/Columbia parking lots.
