Live and Local Music & Arts Series Starting in April!

Discover the charm and culture of downtown Chapel Hill through our Live and Local Music & Arts Series starting next Friday. Exciting events for all ages will be held on the Plaza at 140 West Franklin Street every Friday from 6-9 p.m. during the series!

Spring Fling: April 7th

Spring is upon us... join us in kicking off the season in style!

For the first Live and Local of 2017 we're bringing some special guests into the Plaza. You'll be graced with the presence of an extraordinary face painter, creative balloon twisting, a flowering stilt-walker, and even the Easter Bunny himself!

Bring your inner-artist for some fun seasonal crafts and don't forget to pack your game-face for some cornhole, giant Jengatic-tac-toe and more!

Folk Music Medley: April 21st

It's Earth Day weekend! There's no better way to celebrate this big and beautiful planet than sitting outside and enjoying local music, crafts and games for the whole family.

Christiane Smedley is a local artist who will blow you away with her songwriting and soothing Americana tunes. Her original music and covers will fill the Plaza with the energy you need to start the weekend off right.

Be sure to stop by the Pinwheel Creation Station to celebrate Earth Day in a crafty fashion!

Bluegrass and Bike Week: May 5th

Gear up for Chapel Hill's Bike Week with some bluegrass!

Ellis Dyson & The Shambles will be strummin', stompin' and pickin' for you in the Plaza on May 5th, so you'll definitely want to make Live & Local a stop on your Cinco de Mayo festivities. Ellis Dyson & The Shambles, a bluegrass band from Chapel Hill, have made waves with their theatrical and explosive live shows and masterful musicianship. Their music is sure to start your weekend with a BANG and a HOLLER.

Cirque Du Plaza: May 12th

Join us for Cirque du Plaza - a Live & Local favorite!

This year, we're bringing back the favorites and adding a little new flavor. Down to Earth Aerials will be blowing your mind with their aerial silk routines, a face painter and balloon artist will give you that colorful flair you've been searching for, and a local caricature artist will be sketching away all night.

Come ready to dance to some music, gaze in awe, and play games - it's going to be an awesome night full of fun and adventure!

Speaks & Beats II: May 19th

Live & Local is getting a fresh new face lift on May 19th- come have your voice heard!

In partnership with Blackspace and The Corner, we're bringing poetry, spoken word, music and more to the Plaza. There is no better way to close out an awesome season than with the artistic words of the community

Live & Local will feature various acts, such as Mariah M. and Yoni, and even open the floor for you to read some things you've been working on at the Open Mic

Whether you're an artist, a spectator, young or old, this is a Live & Local you absolutely do not want to miss.
