What To Do & See Downtown This Week! Summer Edition Vol.2
THIS WEEK: June 16-23
Monday, June 19th, 8:30 PM: The Monday Night Open Mic has moved from Carrboro to Chapel Hill with a new location, new sound and a bigger stage. Drums, amps, keyboards and microphones are all provided, so just get ready to sing and play -- or just sit back and enjoy the new talent.
Wednesday, June 21st, 6:30 PM: Kipos Greek Taverna is hosting a wine dinner as part of the "Vineyards of Greece" 2017 seasonal series. You won't want to miss the four decadent courses, featuring scallops, beef tenderloin, baklava ice cream and more, paired with four exquisite wines.
Friday, June 16th, 10 PM - 2 AM: Dance your heart out '90s style and support a great cause. The event goes to fund UNC School of Dentistry students on their trip to Malawi to provide healthcare services, and includes some nostalgic '90s jams and an opportunity for you to rock the denim on denim trend again.
Saturday, June 17th, 2-4 PM: Need a recharge? Come on over to the Nightlight for an afternoon of yoga, meditation and relaxation. All levels are welcome, just make sure you bring your own yoga mat!
Thursday, June 22nd, 9 PM - 12 AM: Enjoy some live funk & soul music by the Biscuits & Groovy band at Linda's Downbar Breakdown. There's no cover, and you get a $5 barbeque sandwich and chips!
Friday, June 16th, 5-8 PM: Porchetta and Baozi food trucks will accompany the Brooke McBride Band as they perform on the lawn of the Carolina Inn while you relax, eat and enjoy.
Saturday, June 17th, 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM: Fun and educational shows including Magic Tree House Space Mission and Carolina Skies are playing at the planetarium straight all Saturday afternoon and into Sunday -- not to mention skywatching Saturday night from 9-11 once the kids are in bed. Grab some family breakfast at Ye Olde Waffle Shop and head a few blocks down to stargaze.
In light of recent global events, the Town of Chapel Hill invites all to come gather in front of DSI Comedy on Wednesday, June 21st at 6:30 PM for a safe space to reflect and share thoughts on how to build community resilience.
