THIS WEEK: July 7-14
Friday, July 7th, 7-9 PM: Get a taste of New Orleans at Imbibe Friday night with a prix fixe three-course menu that includes mouth-watering items like Oysters Rockefeller, Bananas Foster and of course, freshly-brewed beer. Tickets are $45 and selling fast!
Saturday, July 8th, 2-3 PM: Learn a new skill with your date at LIGHT: Art + Design on Rosemary Street and hear tips and tricks from artist and papermaker Ann Marie Kennedy! She is happy to answer your questions and talk through how the hand paper-making process can be used to make collages.
Monday, July 10th, 9 PM: If you like blissfully upbeat electronic music, you won't want to miss Carpool party at The Cave. They're a husband-wife, co-producer and multi-instrumentalist duo blending disco, vaporwave, hip-hop and funk into a genre they call vapordance that's nearly impossible to sit still to. Friday, July 7th, 5-8 PM: If you're a grad student or a young professional, this monthly celebration is just for you. Bring some friends and join the Linda's crew in the Downbar for absurd drink specials and appetizers!
Monday, July 10th, 9 PM - 12 AM: Think you know everything about your favorite TV shows? Grab your quick-witted trivia friends and come out to Monday trivia night at Country Fried Duck. They've got free food, prizes and drink specials while you play.
Tuesday, July 11th, 6:30-9 PM: Everyone is invited to this free-form, self-guided, no-pressure, monthly writers' workshop! Walk around to four different stations, each with its own writing prompt, including a board game word scramble and a prop table. All materials provided, all skill levels welcome, and wine is half off.
Wednesday, July 12th, 6-9 PM: If you or your friends identify as humanists and are interested in drinks, pizza and interesting conversation, come join the Ethical Humanist Society of the Triangle at Mellow Mushroom on the second Wednesday of each month.
Saturday, July 8th, 3:30-4:15 PM: Explore astronomy themes as a family and learn to identify the planets, bright stars, and constellations best seen this summer! The Star Families series is designed for children ages 7-12 accompanied by their families. It's also good for Scout troops, 4-H clubs and other groups that involve children and parents learning together.
Wednesday, July 12th - Saturday, July 15th: You may have heard that our beloved bookstore downtown is closing on the 15th, but they're not going out without a bang. It's your last chance to get your summer reading on and grab a few great books for you and the kids at a discount next week! The Bookshop is offering 70% off any purchase of $20 or more, and the remaining empty bookcases are being sold for only $30 each.
Thursday, July 13th, 8:30 PM: Enjoy an outdoor movie with free tickets, popcorn and games this Thursday on top of Wallace Parking Deck! All you need to bring is a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, and prepare to relax and laugh with the family-friendly Will Ferrell comedy Kicking & Screaming.
