In partnership with the Strowd Roses Foundation, the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, and the  Town of Carrboro, the Carrboro Bicycle Coalition proudly presents the region's first

Recyclery Open Workshop By definition, Bicycle Friendly Businesses offer bicyclists a place to park or store their bicycles. They also creatively enable employees to bicycle to work and promote bicycling throughout our community. 

Benefits of being a Bicycle Friendly Business:
  • In places across the U.S. and around the globe, bicyclists spend the most collectively among all road users, and make more trips to/from businesses than motorists.
  • Promoting bicycling often results in an expanded customer base, happier and healthier employees, and reduced costs associated with maintaining parking spaces, lots and garages.
  • Both Carrboro and Chapel Hill are Silver- and Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Communities, respectively. These designations are known to attract residents and visitors.
  • Carrboro will host the North Carolina Bicycle Summit in October 2013. This conference will draw hundreds of people from around the state to our community. Throughout the Summit, the Coalition and its many partners will encourage attendees to support recognized Bicycle Friendly Businesses like yours!
  • By applying, your businesses has a chance to win a custom-made bike rack - manufactured by local artist Leo Gaev of Leo Gaev Metalworks

The deadline for the current round of BFBs is March 15, 2013. You will be notified of your status by April 22, 2013.

Notification will include a tailored action plan with cost-effective solutions.  Upon BFB certification, the Carrboro Bicycle Coalition will provide a bike-related business profile on the website ( to help promote your business to the entire community. 
Just by filling out an application your business has a chance to win a custom-made bike rack by local artist Leo Gaev!
