Accidental Alarm Program: Register Today, It's Free!
The Town of Chapel Hill implemented the Accidental Alarm Registration Program one
year ago. So far, 2,453 residential and 1,136 commercial alarm systems have been registered through the program. As a reminder, the registration continues to be open for all residential and commercial alarms in Chapel Hill. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of accidental burglar, fire and medical alarms that public safety employees respond to each year.

There is no cost or fee to register your alarm system. Registration is not required on an annual basis but the Town encourages alarm owners to update their contact information annually.

Registering alarms, or updating your information, is free and convenient online at www.townofchapelhill.org/alarms or by calling toll-free 1-855-725-7107 to register by phone.

If you have questions about the program or ordinance, please contact Police Lt. Mitch McKinney at 919-968-2764 or email mmckinney@townofchapelhill.org.
