Halloween Info for Downtown Businesses, Property Owners, Residents

Have Fun! Be safe! Over the last several years Homegrown Halloween has smartly become a more controlled, safer, and yet still enjoyable evening for all; thanks to the efforts of the Town, University and downtown businesses.  

  • The Police Department has specific information for business and property owners - such as road closures, parking restrictions, alley access, tips on how to make your property safer - CLICK HERE.

Halloween Parking Permits:
The Town is offering permits for employees are available for $5 each, to be used in Wallace Parking Deck only. Employees must arrive between 3:30-5:30 PM that evening; they can leave at any time. Purchase them here. 

Alcohol Resource Guide:
The Campus & Community Coalition has created at comprehensive guide for businesses that both serve and sell alcohol to understand how to identify fake IDs, preventing sales to intoxicated people, compliance checks, and more. Download the guide HERE. We have printed copies available for free for businesses too. 

UPDATED INFORMATION 10/23/17:

Grease Containers:
Businesses should have grease containers emptied prior to Halloween. In particular those that are kept behind businesses located in the North Alley and adjacent to Lot #2 parking lot (corner of Columbia St and Rosemary St). 

Drones:
The Chapel Hill Town Council recently adopted an ordinance to allow the Chapel Hill Police Department to enforce Federal Aviation Regulations. More Info
