Downtown offers a variety of parking options, including, short-term metered spaces and longer-term public parking decks and lots. Some businesses offer validated and valet parking and others offer free parking for their customers.

FREE Sunday & Holiday Parking Downtown
Parking is always FREE on Sundays in downtown Chapel Hill! This includes all municipal lots and on-street meters. Parking is also free at on-street meters and most municipal lots on these holidays: Martin Luther King Holiday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Wallace Deck at 150 E. Rosemary St. and the Rosemary/Columbia lot at 101 E. Rosemary St. will be open on their regular schedule and the regular fees will apply.

 

Metered On-Street Parking

- Over 225 on-street spots downtown on Franklin St, Rosemary St, & beyond.  
- $1.25/hr. accepting cash & credit (2 hour max)
- Free after 6:00 pm & all day Sunday

 

Transit Options

Chapel Hill has a fantastic fare-free transit system which can easily bring you Downtown!  Visit the transit page to learn which routes are relevant to you.   Simply enter your starting and ending location and learn the routes and times to get you there!

FREE Valet Parking: Enjoy an evening downtown with the ease and convenience of complimentary valet parking from Monday through Saturday at one of 18 participating downtown businesses. Patrons enjoying other establishments can also use the valet service for a $5.00 charge. Drop-off your car at two conveniently located valet parking stands; in front of the UNC Information Technology building(440 West Franklin Street), near the West End Wine Bar or in front of Spanky's Restaurant (101 East Franklin Street). For details click here!
